Data Analysis Support - Part 1

The information below provides detailed (step-by-step) support on data analysis. It is intended to walk you through each stage of analysing and interpreting the data you receive from us. It is important that you follow each step in order, since only then can you be confident that (a) you have performed a full analysis of the data and (b) that your sequence is accurate (That said, if looking at the chromatogram reveils that the sequence looks clean and of high quality, there is little point undertaking a detailed analysis of signal intensities, etc). More help and trouble shooting information is available in our trouble shooting area. Should you not find the answer to your question/problem here or in our trouble shooting area, please contact us and we will do our best to help.

The Email Notification...

The email that we send to customers notifying them of results being ready to download contains important information that will assist customers in reviewing their results. The subject line and body of the email provide an indication of how well the reactions went. The absence of reference to issues usually means that everything was fine with the majority of results. Issues will be highlighted by various standard email subject lines and bodies. Because these are standard texts generated from a database, they cannot describe every possible issue. However, it is hoped that the text points customers in the right direction and at least informs them that all was not right with the results. Further analysis of the results (dealt with in the rest of this support section) will help to determine more precisely what the issues were.

Obtaining the Results...

This is covered in the support page dealing with results archives and you should already have downloaded and unzipped the results archive onto your computer. If you do not have a results folder containing the following items:

  1. An Excel Spreadsheet with details of samples
  2. A ".ab1" file for each result
  3. A ".seq" file for each result

then you need to follow the steps for downloading and unzipping your results archive before proceeding any further.
