New Sequencer, New Services
We have just taken delivery of our second 3730 DNA
sequencer (named "Hortense" - for the unitiated
Hortense McDuck is Donald Duck's mother)
and the addition of this machine to our service opens up new
possibilities. These are detailed below.
Cheaper Sequencing!
Yes, we can now make your sequencing even more
affordable. We have decided that we will introduce two
alternative read lengths for our regular sequencing
services. These are:
- Long Read. This is the standard read length that all
customers have received up to now. If you do not specify
otherwise, you will continue to receive this level of
service and the price will remain the same as at present.
We aim to achieve one kilobase reads with this service.
For most templates customers obtain at least 800-900
bases of good clean sequence.
- Short Read. This is the new read length. By using a
shorter capillary array on our new DNA sequencer, we can
produce results quicker. The flip side of this is that
the reads are a little shorter. We aim to provide
customers with 600-700 bases of clean sequence. In
reality, with good templates, often it is possible to get
more than this. To tempt people to use this service, we
have priced this service at
50p per sample
less than our long read service.

Applications!
Our new DNA sequencer comes with Applied Biosystems fragment
analysis software that allows us to offer a whole range of
fragment analysis services for customers. Due to the variety
of fragment analysis requirements that different customers
might have, we ask that potential customers
contact us to ask about services
we can offer and for pricing information.
