Welcome to our New Lab
Yes, we have moved laboratories. The opening of the new
Centre for Interdisciplinary Research (CIR) Building and
movement of other staff out of the MSI building has created
a desperately needed opportunity for us to move to a larger
laboratory. The new area is only just "around the corner"
from our old area in the MSI building and so we have managed
to accomplish the move without any interruption to normal
service.
Our new laboratory area has many advantages over the old
area. Here are just a few:
- We have gained bench space - every member of the team
now has a space in which to work rather than everyone
having to compete for the two small areas we had before.
- We have more underbench space meaning that we can
have more fridges and freezers in which to keep things
(we even have a dedicated fridge just for sample drop
off!).
- We can have all our equipment on the benches rather
than having it on shelves and having to bring it down
when needed.
- We have some windows (rather a lot in fact!). Not
just useful for seeing what the weather is doing, but
also useful in case of air conditioning failure....
We like our new lab area so much we have taken a few pictures of it.

Due to the variety of fragment analysis requirements that
