Registration Support
The information below provides detailed support on registration issues. If you are looking for trouble shooting information (e.g. because you are unhappy with your results), please go to our trouble shooting area. Should you not find the answer to your question/problem here, please contact us and we will do our best to help.
Why you need to register...
All customers of The Sequencing Service must be registered with us and must register before sending any samples. To apply for registration, just fill out the registration form on this site (follow the link at the top or on the left of this page). Please note this process is not automatic and can take a day or two, since we will check out your details.
Note: To register with us, you MUST be a member of a scientific institution (either academic or industrial). We do NOT accept registrations from members of the public.
About your registration...
Your registration with us is your way of accessing your results. Therefore it is very important that you keep this information confidential. You may choose to have just a single registration that everyone in your laboratory/group uses, or you may wish to have separate registrations for all people in the group who use us. Whichever of these options you choose, please note that all registered users from within a single group have access to the same results area. Individual registrations remain active for a period of one year from date of last log-on to our server. After this time they will be deactivated. Hence, if you have not used us for some time and suddenly discover that your log-on no longer appears to work, please contact us to ask for the account to be reactivated. Please remember that both the username and password for your account are case sensitive. Hence, username "JBloggs" is not the same as "jbloggs".
What your registration allows...
Once registered, customers can access their sequence results over the internet and use our on-line submission forms to send us information about samples that you wish us to sequence. Our on-line sample submission forms are easy to use and help us by ensuring that a standard form is used to provide information and by allowing us to coordinate our resources by knowing when samples will arrive for processing. Customers may prefer to use hard copy forms for sending us sample information. Whilst this is not our preferred method of receiving information about sample submissions, we do accept them and registered users have access to downloadable forms that they can print out and fill in.
Access to sequence data on-line is the preferred method for users to receive their results. By accessing your results electronically over the internet you receive your results much quicker than is possible by other means and it helps us to provide a better, cheaper and quicker service. We appreciate that not all customers will wish to receive their results in this way and for those customers we offer a range of alternative ways to obtain their sequence results (please see the appropriate section of the support area).
Your personal details...
As part of the registration process, we collect some personal information about you and your establishment. This information is only used by us in relation to the work we undertake for you and to keep you informed of important news about The Sequencing Service. We will not provide this information to third parties. For more information, please see out privacy statement and our Data Protection Act statement.
